Annual Survey

Once a year – usually just before or just after the Christmas/New Year break – FFCoVE commissions a survey to understand how the sector views what the FFCoVE is doing and what it thinks the strengths and weaknesses of the vocational education and training (VET) system are.

Scarlatti Limited administers the survey for us and, in addition to providing a summary report (which is published once approved by the FFCoVE Board) it also presents the results on their PowerBI platform.

The objectives of the survey are to:

  • Monitor the FFCoVE influence on the VET system
    • Observe the impact the FFCoVE is having (direct and indirect)
    • Gauge the level and speed of change through the system
  • Identify examples of excellence in the VET system
  • Identify points of pain in the VET system.

The survey is repeated annually to:

  • Monitor changes in the FFCoVE’s influence over time
  • Continue to build on a database of examples of excellence
  • Evaluate whether there are recurring points of pain to be addressed (or whether they are now examples of excellence).

The audiences for this survey include:

  • Industry bodies (DairyNZ, Horticulture NZ, Beef and Lamb NZ, etc)
  • Government groups (Ministry for Primary Industries, Tertiary Education Commission)
  • Te Pūkenga units including Primary ITO staff and tutors
  • Other VET provider staff and tutors (Dairy Training, …)
  • Food & Fibre sector employers.

Each survey aims to secure a group of repeat participants (to form a longitudinal survey cohort) as well as first-time respondents.

The results are produced both as a summary report (published once approved by the FFCoVE Board) and an online Power BI dashboard (click here to go to the dashboard)
