It is hard to believe it’s September already. 2023 has been full of challenges and opportunities; some we have embraced whole-heartedly, while others have tested us both emotionally, and physically.
At the recent Primary Industries Summit there was significant discussion about minimising duplication of effort. Food and Fibre CoVE agrees the challenges of talent attraction and retention, industry skills needs, and leadership development requires sector-wide cooperation and cohesion with a ‘joined-up’ discussion, between industry, government and the wider community paramount. Nicole Rosie, CEO, Waka Kotahi summed it up beautifully, “New Zealand needs to have an adult conversation about what it wants its future to look like”.
